Oregon has been a leader nationally with mail-in balloting and "motor voter" registration, but we are still one of the few states in the country where nonaffiliated and third party voters are excluded from participating in primaries for critical congressional, state executive, and legislative offices.
Over 1 million registered voters in the state of Oregon are prevented from voting in these races because of our state's CLOSED primary system - that’s almost 40 percent of all voters!

That’s not right.  It’s time to open up.

Did you know that major party primaries are paid for by Oregon taxpayers? Political parties are private, nonprofit organizations, yet in our state the two major parties’ nominating process and membership tracking are run by the state and funded with tax dollars.
Do you believe that all voters should be able to vote for who they want in every public election?
